Summary: The Department of Transportation and Highways respectfully requests approval of the proposed amendment between the County and Lorig Construction Company, Des Plaines, Illinois.
This contract was approved by the Cook County Board on June 29, 2023, for Central Avenue Bridge Deck Replacement located within the Cook County Board District 16 in accordance with the plans and specifications. The Central Avenue Bridge Deck Replacement, I-55 to Pershing Road has differing field conditions than originally anticipated. The amendment accounts for northbound Central Avenue deck that was in deteriorated condition requiring partial depth deck patches prior to Stage-1 MOT implementation; full-depth temporary pavement to account for truck traffic at Central Avenue and Pershing Road intersection; pothole patching at Central Avenue and Pershing Road in existing pavement; median crossover to addressing grade difference between Southbound and Northbound decks after median removal; median joint sealant to seal existing open joint after median removal at center line; modular joints exploration and exploratory demolition to identify existing field conditions of girders coping and available clearances for shop drawings preparation of proposed modular joints; temporary striping to remove and replace tape with paint pavement markings and adjustments to other items as needed.
This contract was awarded pursuant to a publicly advertised Invitation for Bid (IFB) in accordance with the Cook County Procurement Code. Lorig Construction Company was the lowest, responsive, and responsible bidder.
