PROPOSED RESOLUTION
CELEBRATING THE 100TH ANNIVERSARY OF BANNER WHOLESALE GROCERS
WHEREAS, in 2026, Banner Wholesale Grocers proudly celebrates its 100th Anniversary, marking a century of continuous operation as a family-owned business and one of the Midwest’s most respected wholesale grocery distributors; and
WHEREAS, founded in 1926 as a modest dried goods store, Banner Wholesale Grocers has successfully evolved through four generations of family leadership, demonstrating remarkable innovation and an enduring commitment to serving independent grocers and neighborhood businesses; and
WHEREAS, by anticipating market trends and adapting to the evolving needs of retailers and consumers, Banner Wholesale Grocers has demonstrated a longstanding commitment to innovation, growth, and customer service; and
WHEREAS, today, under fourth-generation leadership, Banner Wholesale Grocers manages more than 6,000 stockkeeping units and serves independent grocers across Chicagoland, Indianapolis, Columbus, Cincinnati, Kentucky, Milwaukee, and communities throughout the Midwest, supporting local entrepreneurship and expanding access to products that reflect the communities they serve; and
WHEREAS, for one hundred years, Banner Wholesale Grocers has remained steadfast in its commitment to quality, affordability, exceptional customer service, and strong relationships with independent retailers, earning a reputation as a trusted partner across generations; and
WHEREAS, the longevity of Banner Wholesale Grocers stands as a testament to the importance of family-owned businesses in fostering economic opportunity, supporting entrepreneurship, strengthening local supply chains, and contributing to the cultural and economic vitality of communities throughout Cook County and the State of Illinois; and
WHEREAS, through four generations of family leadership and a century of service, Banner Wholesale Grocers has embodied the values of hard work, adaptability, and community commitment that define the very best of Chicago businesses.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Cook County Board of Commissioners congratulates Banner Wholesale Grocers and its dedicated leadership and employees for their extraordinary contributions to Cook County and the broader Midwest region; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Banner Wholesale Grocers as an expression of appreciation for a century of service and with best wishes for continued success in the years ahead.
