PROPOSED RESOLUTION
CELEBRATING THE 60TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE KIWANIS CLUB OF GLENVIEW-NORTHBROOK
WHEREAS, the Kiwanis Club of Glenview-Northbrook is celebrating 60 years of service; and
WHEREAS, the Kiwanis Club of Glenview-Northbrook was chartered in 1964; and
WHEREAS, the Kiwanis Club of Glenview-Northbrook has adopted the Kiwanis International mission of “Serving the Children of the World,” supporting groups such as Alzheimer’s Association, Children’s Miracle Network, Cradles to Crayons, Debra Gelfand Fund, Glenbrook North Key Club Scholarship, Glenbrook South Key Club Scholarship, Glenview 4-H Club -Gratitude Generation, Glenview Methodist Preschool, Glenview Parks Foundation, Glenview Methodist Preschool, Glenview Park District, Glenview Park Foundation, HOBY Leadership Foundation, Josselyn Center for Mental Health, Kiwanis Children’s Fund, Kiwanis Neuroscience Research Foundation, Maryville Crisis Nursery, Northbrook Civic Foundation, Northfield Township Food Pantry, Rebuilding Together, TotalLink2 Community, Toys for Tots, Wesley Child Care Center, and Youth Services of Glenview-Northbrook; and
WHEREAS, service is at the heart of the Kiwanis Club of Glenview-Northbrook; and
WHEREAS, every September the Kiwanis Club of Glenview-Northbrook hosts Pretzel Days, an annual fundraiser benefiting various community projects focusing on children and youth; and
WHEREAS, the Kiwanis Club of Glenview-Northbrook raises continuing education funds for both the Glenbrook North and Glenbrook South High School Key Clubs; and
WHEREAS, the Kiwanis Club of Glenview-Northbrook's signature project is Pizza Mania, featuring all-you-can-eat pizza from local restaurants, raffles, and other family-friendly activities, that support Wesley Child Care Center in offsetting programming costs and creating scholarships for low income families to afford childcare; and
WHEREAS, the Kiwanis Club of Glenview-Northbrook partners with Youth Services of Glenview/Northbrook for Study Buddies Dinner, providing children from 1st - 8th grade with free homework help, along with a delicious meal; and
WHEREAS, the Kiwanis Club of Glenview-Northbrook meets Tuesdays at noon to learn from one another, fellowship, and plan for future events and fundraising; and
WHEREAS, the Kiwanis Club of Glenview-Northbrook is a partner of Cook County United Against Hate, an initiative working to help everyone feel welcome, included, seen, and connected by fostering welcoming communities, reporting discrimination, and championing justice.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the President of the Cook County Board and the Cook County Board of Commissioners does hereby congratulate the Kiwanis Club of Glenview-Northbrook for 60 years of service to the community; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this text be spread upon the official proceedings of this Honorable Body, and a suitable copy of the same be tendered to Kiwanis Club of Glenview-Northbrook as a means of conveying our congratulations.
