PROPOSED RESOLUTION

 

CONGRATULATING ANNE CAMPBELL ON HER RETIREMENT AS EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR OF UNITED PALATINE COALITION 

 

WHEREAS, Anne Campbell has dedicated her life to the well-being of her community and its residents; and

 

WHEREAS, Anne Campbell began her career of public service as a nurse in both hospital and school settings for fifteen years after obtaining her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Depaul University; and 

 

WHEREAS, Anne Campbell earned her Master’s Degree in Social Justice and Community Development from Loyola University Chicago, before becoming executive director of United Palatine Coalition (UP Coalition) in 2019; and

 

WHEREAS, UP Coalition is a collective impact initiative working to build partnerships between organizations, businesses, and residents in Palatine. Created in 2015 by the United Way of Metropolitan Chicago, UP Coalition addresses achievement gaps among Palatine youth 24 years and younger via the establishment of supportive and collaborative community partnerships; and 

 

WHEREAS, through targeted outreach, Anne Campbell recruited over 50 partner organizations from various sectors with the vision of equally preparing all Palatine students for successful, productive, self-reliant lives by promoting equity in their communities; and 

 

WHEREAS, Anne Campbell launched UP Coalition’s Wellness Action Team, comprised of over 20 organizations focused on addressing community needs in areas such as mental and physical health, early childhood education, and food and clothing needs through a strategic approach prioritizing awareness, education, and prevention as more and more households are found to be facing complex challenges; and 

 

WHEREAS, Anne Campbell catalyzed the Digital Divide Action Team to improve access to digital skill-building classes, affordable high-speed internet, and devices because it is vital for empowering families and communities to thrive in education and economic growth; and

 

WHEREAS, in response to Palatine’s identification as a suburban engagement priority area in Cook County’s Digital Equity Action Plan, Anne Campbell sprang into action, offering 316 computer skill classes to 368 participants, distributing 545 computers, and connecting 178 households to the internet; and 

 

WHEREAS, at Anne Campbell’s behest UP Coalition signed on as a partner of the Cook County United Against Hate initiative, and has created activities for children to learn the importance of understanding and empathizing with others and that hate has no home in Cook County; and 

 

WHEREAS, due to Anne Campbell’s exceptional leadership, UP Coalition now serves as a model for other neighboring nonprofit collective impact initiatives; and 

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the President of the Cook County Board and the Cook County Board of Commissioners does hereby thank Anne Campbell for her decades of service to residents, commend her for her work to create a more equitable community for young people, and celebrates her achievements as she embarks on retirement; and  

   

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this text be spread upon the official proceedings of this Honorable Body, and a suitable copy of the same be tendered to Anne Campbell as a means of conveying our thanks and congratulations for her service to the residents of Cook County.end
