PROPOSED RESOLUTION

 

RESOLUTION CELEBRATING THE 10TH ANNIVERSARY OF LATINO UNION PLUMBERS CLUB OF LOCAL 130 (P.L.O.M.O.)

 

WHEREAS, P.L.O.M.O. (Plumbers Latino Organization / Plumbers Latino Union Club), formally known as the Latino Union Plumbers Club of Local 130, was established in 2015 to support, uplift, and empower Latino(a) plumbing professionals, apprentices, and youth interested in pursuing careers in the plumbing trade; and

 

WHEREAS, for ten years, P.L.O.M.O. has remained committed to strengthening the plumbing profession by sharing knowledge, skills, mentorship, and leadership among its members and the broader community; and

 

WHEREAS, P.L.O.M.O. has played a vital role in creating meaningful networking opportunities that foster professional growth, unity, and solidarity within UA Local 130 and the labor movement as a whole; and

 

WHEREAS, through outreach, education, and advocacy, P.L.O.M.O. has inspired future generations to pursue careers in the skilled trades while promoting pride in craftsmanship, cultural heritage, and union values; and

 

WHEREAS, the dedication, hard work, and vision of P.L.O.M.O.’s founders, officers, members, and supporters have contributed significantly to the success and longevity of the organization over the past decade; and

 

WHEREAS, according to 2023 labor statistics, 24.8% of workers in the fields of plumbing, pipefitting, and steamfitting identify as Latino/Hispanic, highlighting the significant contributions of Latino professionals to the skilled trades industry.

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Cook County Board of Commissioners hereby recognize and celebrate the 10th Anniversary of P.L.O.M.O. for its outstanding service to UA Local 130 and the community, and extend our best wishes for continued growth, unity, and success in the years to come.

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the leadership of the Latino Union Plumbers Club Local 130 (P.L.O.M.O.) as an honorable expression of appreciation and commendation for their decade of dedication and positive impact on the plumbing trade, organized labor, and the community at large.
