PROPOSED RESOLUTION
HONORING THE SERVICE AND RETIREMENT OF THEODORE “TED” WROBLESKI
WHEREAS, Theodore “Ted” Wrobleski, a lifelong Chicagoan and South Side native, has dedicated 50 years of service to his community through leadership and volunteerism and is retiring from the Sheffield Neighbors Association after decades of meaningful work; and
WHEREAS, Ted Wrobleski grew up in the West Lawn neighborhood and has practiced law for more than 55 years; and
WHEREAS, in 1975, Ted moved to the Sheffield Neighbors community, began volunteering with the Sheffield Neighbors Association in 1976, and was elected to the Board of Directors in 1981, where he served for more than four decades; and
WHEREAS, Ted led architectural tours of the Sheffield neighborhood from 1985 through 2020, introducing tens of thousands of visitors to the neighborhood’s history and design; and
WHEREAS, Ted helped negotiate agreements with developers and employers on the Near North Side to protect the interests of the Sheffield community, and served on the DePaul University Neighborhood Advisory Council since 1990; and
WHEREAS, Ted co-founded the Lincoln Park Community Research Initiative in 1998, served as a founding board member of the Armitage-Halsted Landmark District Committee, and held leadership roles with the Lincoln Park Conservation Association, the Children’s Memorial Hospital Advisory Committee, and Saint Teresa of Ávila Parish; and
WHEREAS, this Board recognizes Ted Wrobleski for his leadership, commitment, and lasting impact on his neighborhood, the City of Chicago, and Cook County; and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, the Cook County Board of Commissioners honor and congratulate Theodore “Ted” Wrobleski on his retirement and commend his 50 years of service to the Sheffield Neighbors Association and the community; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Theodore “Ted” Wrobleski as a symbol of the respect and gratitude of the Cook County Board of Commissioners.
