Summary: The Office of the Chief Judge requests authorization for the Chief Procurement Office to enter into and execute a renewal and increase with Language Line Solutions for Telephonic Foreign Language Interpretation Services. The pricing associated with this contract has not changed (.75 cent per minute), but the volume of the number of minutes used has increased dramatically. There is a demand for foreign language interpreters due to a rise in culturally and linguistically diverse populations, creating an urgent need, particularly within court supporting services and after-hour programs.
This contract will allow for access to quality interpretation services. OCJ has found the services previously provided by Language Line Services to be effective in meeting the statutory requirements of accessibility to justice in the courts.
Competitive bidding procedures were followed in accordance with the Cook County Procurement Code. Language Line Solutions was the lowest, responsive and responsible bidder.
