PROPOSED RESOLUTION
A RESOLUTION HONORING THE LEADERSHIP AND SERVICE OF SUPERVISOR CALVIN JORDAN, NEWLY ELECTED PRESIDENT OF THE TOWNSHIP OFFICIALS OF COOK COUNTY (TOCC)
WHEREAS, the Township Officials of Cook County (TOCC), established in 1966, serves as a cornerstone institution dedicated to enhancing the efficacy of local governance by offering essential educational resources, professional development opportunities, and intergovernmental collaboration for township officials throughout Cook County, Illinois; and
WHEREAS, TOCC's mission remains steadfast in strengthening the administrative capacities of supervisors, clerks, assessors, highway commissioners, and trustees, while fostering innovation and shared best practices across townships; and
WHEREAS, Supervisor Calvin Jordan continues to distinguish himself as a consummate public servant demonstrating exceptional vision, ethical leadership, and an unwavering commitment to community advancement in his dual roles as Supervisor and Democratic Committeeman of Rich Township; and
WHEREAS, with over three decades of impactful experience in executive leadership, civic engagement, and economic development, Supervisor Jordan cultivates and implements transformative initiatives aimed at uplifting underserved populations and catalyzing social progress; and
WHEREAS, the late Cook County Board President John H. Stroger Jr., whose legacy of public service laid a foundation for inclusive policy-making, deeply informed Supervisor Jordan’s leadership philosophy and further strengthened by Supervisor Jordan’s ongoing collaboration with current Board President Toni Preckwinkle to promote equity-driven, community-responsive governance; and
WHEREAS, The members of TOCC duly elected Supervisor Calvin Jordan as the new President of TOCC on June 26, 2025. Supervisor Calvin Jordan now assumes this prestigious role with a bold commitment to transparency, accountability, and strategic collaboration, seeking to ensure all township residents-regardless of geography or socioeconomic status-receive meaningful representation in the public discourse; and
WHEREAS, the Cook County Board of Commissioners commends and celebrates the exemplary leadership of Supervisor Jordan and recognizes the importance of his election as a pivotal moment in furthering TOCC’s mission to cultivate ethical, effective, and inclusive township governance across the County; and
WHEREAS, the Board acknowledges the significance of the TOCC leadership transition and formally invites its members to join the Cook County Board meeting on July 24, 2025, as the Board extends our collective congratulations to Supervisor Jordan and reaffirm our shared commitment to the advancement of good government; and
NOW, THEREFORE, WE, BILL LOWRY, COOK COUNTY COMMISSIONER OF THE 3rd DISTRICT, AND TONI PRECKWINKLE, PRESIDENT, OF THE COOK COUTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS, on behalf of the residents of Cook County, do hereby extend our sincere congratulations and full support to Supervisor Calvin Jordan in his capacity as President of the Township Officials of Cook County; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED,, we applaud his steadfast devotion to public service and affirm our confidence in his ability to guide TOCC with distinction and integrity, thereby enhancing the quality of life for all residents of Cook County; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, a suitable copy of this Resolution be presented to Supervisor Calvin Jordan as a lasting tribute to his remarkable legacy and in grateful acknowledgment of his exceptional life of service and partnership with the Office of Cook County Commissioner Bill Lowry, 3rd District
