Title: PROPOSED RESOLUTION HANOVER TOWNSHIP DIRECTOR OF HUMAN SERVICES MARY JO IMPERATO RETIREMENT WHEREAS, Mary Jo Imperato has been a resident of Bartlett since 1987; and WHERESAS, Mary Jo began serving the Hanover Township community in 2003 when she was hired as Deputy Clerk; and WHEREAS, Mary Jo then went on to serve as Chief Deputy Clerk in 2008; and WHEREAS, she then took over the role of Director of Human Services in 2009; and WHEREAS, known for her leadership and deep commitment to service, Mary Jo has been recognized with numerous awards and acknowledgements from community partners throughout the years; and WHEREAS, these awards include the Community Crisis Center's 2012 Heart of Center Award, the Village of Hanover Park's 2015 Service to Youth Award, the Brookdale Hoffman Estates Senior Services' 2015 Local Hero Award, Hanover Township's 2017 Excellence in Service Award, and Cook County's 2019 Unsung Heroine Award; and WHEREAS, she has also served as a mem...

PROPOSED RESOLUTION

 

HANOVER TOWNSHIP DIRECTOR OF HUMAN SERVICES MARY JO IMPERATO RETIREMENT

 

WHEREAS, Mary Jo Imperato has been a resident of Bartlett since 1987; and 

 

WHERESAS, Mary Jo began serving the Hanover Township community in 2003 when she was hired as Deputy Clerk; and 

 

WHEREAS, Mary Jo then went on to serve as Chief Deputy Clerk in 2008; and 

 

WHEREAS, she then took over the role of Director of Human Services in 2009; and 

 

WHEREAS, known for her leadership and deep commitment to service, Mary Jo has been recognized with numerous awards and acknowledgements from community partners throughout the years; and 

 

WHEREAS, these awards include the Community Crisis Center’s 2012 Heart of Center Award, the Village of Hanover Park’s 2015 Service to Youth Award, the Brookdale Hoffman Estates Senior Services’ 2015 Local Hero Award, Hanover Township’s 2017 Excellence in Service Award, and Cook County’s 2019 Unsung Heroine Award; and 

 

WHEREAS, she has also served as a member of the Regional Transportation Authority, Citizens Advisory Council from 2015 to 2017, and as a member of the Streamwood Kiwanis Club since 2010; and 

 

WHEREAS, Mary Jo has showcased her leadership skills through her role with the Illinois Township Association of General Assistance Caseworkers since 2012 and served as the Association’s president for several years; and 

 

WHEREAS, she additionally served as Treasurer for the Illinois Township Association of General Assistance Caseworkers from 2022 to 2025; and 

 

WHEREAS, Mary Jo has consistently strived to understand and meet the needs of her community, specifically residents requiring assistance accessing benefits assistance programs and experiencing food insecurity; and 

 

WHEREAS, as an Accredited Veterans Service Officer, she has worked with Township Veterans and their families to successfully file numerous disability claims; and 

 

WHEREAS, over the years, Mary Jo has secured numerous grant dollars to support the Hanover Township Food Pantry and continues to identify ways to consistently improve services; and 

 

WHEREAS, she has been a dependable and critical partner with Cook County through her work on events such as the township's annual Job Fair, Veterans Fair, and Backpack Distribution; and

 

WHEREAS, Mary Jo’s work, dedication, and care to Hanover Township and its residents has made a lasting impact on the lives of residents and the community; and

 

WHEREAS, after nearly 22 years of dedicated service, Mary Jo will retire on August 29, 2025, allowing her to spend time with her beloved husband, Carl, and their two children, Alex and Johnny; 

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Cook County Board of Commissioners do hereby congratulate Mary Jo Imperato on her many years of service to Hanover Township, and wish her well on her retirement; and

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that this text be spread upon the official proceedings of this Honorable Body, and suitable copies be tendered to Elk Grove Village Mayor Craig Johnson and Mary Jo Imperato as she enjoys every day of her retirement.
