Summary/Notes: Requesting approval of a lease agreement between 525 WVB Realty Associates, LLC, a Delaware Limited Liability Company, as Lessor, and the County of Cook, a body corporate and politic of the State of Illinois, as Lessee, for approximately 10,789 square feet of space, on the 3rd floor of 525 West Van Buren St, Chicago, IL 60607. The use is for the State’s Attorney Office to establish a digital forensics lab.
In recognition of the increasing demand for a digital evidence platform, the States Attorney’s Office (SAO) is making a concerted effort to invest in advanced technologies that support its mission. Additionally, these technologies will improve stakeholders’ ability to extract, analyze, and interpret complex data sources. The establishment of a state-of-the-art digital forensic laboratory will contribute significantly to the SAO’s success.
This laboratory will include dedicated spaces designed to intake digital evidence and equipment, a secure area for evidentiary storage, workstation areas for conducting analysis on the large volume of requests for service with specialized equipment, and training classrooms and labs designed for instructional/training purposes. The laboratory will also have collaborative rooms, where electronic evidence can be reviewed by requestors or other parties. The environment will also have common areas to encourage teamwork and discussion. Additionally, the digital forensic laboratory will provide administrative offices for faculty and staff to manage operations and research projects.
