PROPOSED RESOLUTION
CONGRATULATING JOE WADE ON HIS RETIREMENT FROM PUBLIC SERVICE
WHEREAS, Joe Wade has been the city administrator of the City of Prospect Heights since 2014 and has led consequential changes and appropriate progress in operations, policies, and new developments; and
WHEREAS, Joe Wade previously served as the assistant village manager and economic development director for Carpentersville for three years, and village administrator in Morton Grove for six years; and
WHEREAS, Joe Wade holds master's degrees in public administration from Northern Illinois University and industrial relations from Loyola University in Chicago; and
WHEREAS, Joe Wade was committed to enhancing pedestrian connectivity by improving and building new sidewalks by obtaining grants from Cook County’s Invest in Cook program from 2022 to 2025 for Camp McDonald Sidewalk, Elmhurst Road Sidewalk, and Willow Road Sidewalk, for a total investment of $276,039; and
WHEREAS, Joe Wade leveraged the Invest In Cook funding for the Camp McDonald sidewalk project to complete preliminary and design engineering for the improvements, which was a prerequisite for IDOT Transportation Enhancement program. The City of Prospect Heights was then approved for $1.6 million from the state for construction; and
WHEREAS, Joe Wade quickly worked with Cook County to obtain Covid-19 vaccines for the residents of the City of Prospect Heights by offering access to a mass clinic sponsored by Cook County in Des Plaines and by sponsoring a Pop-Up clinic at River Trails Park District in Prospect Heights with nursing staff fluent in Polish, Spanish and English; and
WHEREAS, Joe Wade led the City of Prospect Heights in joining as a partner of Cook County United Against Hate and recruited the Prospect Heights Public Library and the Prospect Heights Park District to sign on as partners as well; and
WHEREAS, Joe Wade is recognized by his peers, his community, and his colleagues: Prospect Heights Mayor Patrick Ludvigsen said that “Joe Wade has provided excellent leadership and service to Prospect Heights and made several significant contributions to the city, including creating and cultivating a culture of professionalism and stability, managing the completion of many stormwater improvement projects including the vital Arlington Countryside Stormwater Project, and expanding the city’s pedestrian and transit network by promoting construction of new sidewalks for the safety of local students and residents.”
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by Cook County Commissioner Scott Britton on behalf of President Toni Preckwinkle and the Board of Commissioners of Cook County that the Board does hereby congratulate Joe Wade on his retirement and commend him for his decades-long commitment to our municipalities and residents; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this text be spread upon the official proceedings of this Honorable Body, and a suitable copy of the same be tendered to Joe Wade as a means of conveying our thanks and congratulations for his service to the residents of Cook County.
