PROPOSED RESOLUTION
RESOLUTION HONORING FARRAGUT CAREER ACADEMY'S 16-INCH SOFTBALL TEAM FOR WINNING THE 2025 CHICAGO PUBLIC LEAGUE CHAMPIONSHIP
WHEREAS, the Cook County Board of Commissioners recognizes and celebrates the accomplishments of student-athletes whose dedication and success brings distinction to their schools, families, and communities; and
WHEREAS, Farragut Career Academy's 16-inch softball team made school history during the 2025 season by winning the Chicago Public League Championship, earning the first city title in the program's history; and
WHEREAS, representing the Little Village community, the Farragut Admirals demonstrated exceptional teamwork, discipline, perseverance, and sportsmanship throughout their championship season; and
WHEREAS, despite being one of the smaller high schools in the Chicago Public League, with an enrollment of just over 400 students, Farragut Career Academy overcame some of the City's largest and most competitive programs on its path to the championship; and
WHEREAS, Farragut defeated Lane Tech College Prep High School by a score of 10-0 in the semifinal round and went on to defeat Walter Payton College Preparatory High School by a score of 14-2 in the championship game, securing the title in commanding fashion; and
WHEREAS, this achievement reflects not only the athletic skill and preparation of the student-athletes, but also the unwavering commitment of the coaching staff, families, and supporters who fostered a culture of excellence and pride; and
WHEREAS, the team's success has inspired fellow students and brought renewed recognition and celebration to the Farragut Career Academy and Little Village community;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Cook County Board of Commissioners hereby congratulates the Farragut Career Academy 16-inch softball team on winning the 2025 Chicago Public League Championship and commends the team for its outstanding season and historic accomplishment; and
