Summary: The Department of Transportation and Highways respectfully requests Approval of the Proposed Intergovernmental Agreement between Cook County and the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT). The proposed Intergovernmental Agreement with the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) defines Cook County’s involvement in various preconstruction, final engineering, and construction activities related to the Chicago Regional Environmental and Transportation Effiency (CREATE) Partnership’s 75th Street Corridor Improvement Plan (CIP), which is a railroad improvement project that will reconfigure freight and passenger railroads, add new rail capacity, and grade separate 71st Street and the CSX Railroad. Cook County committed $77,750,000.00 in matching funds toward a $132 million Infrastructure for Rebuilding America grant awarded by the U.S. Department of Transportation to the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) in 2018 for the 75th Street CIP.
