PROPOSED RESOLUTION
HONORING THE LIFE OF EILEEN MARY QUINN
WHEREAS, God, in his infinite wisdom, saw fit to call Eileen Mary Quinn from our midst on November 21, 2015; and,
WHEREAS, Eileen Quinn, born Oct. 18, 1917, was a native of Chicago's Englewood community on the South Side; and,
WHEREAS, Eileen Quinn married Patrick Joseph Quinn, a naval officer, on January 2, 1943, during a leave in the middle of World War II. The couple later settled down after her husband became one of the first recipients of the GI Bill and obtained a loan to buy a home in Hinsdale in 1948; and,
WHEREAS, Eileen Quinn went to high school at the Academy of our Lady, later known as Longwood Academy, in Chicago. She also attended Wilson Junior College, studying secretarial skills, and later worked 30 years in the Hinsdale District 181 school system as a secretary and administrative assistant; and,
WHEREAS, Eileen Quinn was a devout Catholic who lived her life with empathy and purpose; and,
WHEREAS, Eileen Quinn is survived by her three sons, Tom, John, and Pat Quinn, the 41st Governor of Illinois, as well as seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild;
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the deep condolences of the President and the Cook County Board of Commissioners are hereby extended to the family of Eileen Quinn, with deep appreciation for the contributions of Eileen Quinn to her community and to Cook County.
