PROPOSED RESOLUTION
RECOGNIZING KRISTA ALSTON
WHEREAS on July 9, 2017, Reverend Krista Alston celebrated her second anniversary as Pastor of Pleasant Gift Missionary Baptist Church; and
WHEREAS Reverend Alston is a spiritual leader who serves both the church and her community; and
WHEREAS Reverend Alston is a strong advocate on social justice issues, particularly as they pertain to the education of the children; and
WHEREAS Reverend Alston fought the closing of fifty schools in Chicago in 2013 locally and by advocating for our children with senators and congressmen in Washington, D.C.; and
WHEREAS Reverend Alston is currently the secretary the Local School Council at Dunbar High School, where her son attends.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the President and the Cook County Board of Commissioners, on behalf of the residents of Cook County, recognize Pastor Krista Alston for her essential contribution to the health and viability of Cook County.
