PROPOSED RESOLUTION
CELEBRATING THE RETIREMENT OF TIMOTHY J. O’CONNOR JR. AND HONORING HIS ILLUSTRIOUS YEARS OF DEDICATED PUBLIC SERVICE AT COOK COUNTY GOVERNMENT
WHEREAS, Tim O’Connor has devoted the past five and a half decades to serving the residents of Cook County, he began his public service career as a teenager working part-time at the Clerk’s Office; and
WHEREAS, he harnessed his stellar work ethic instilled in him by his father and previous roles working as a newspaper delivery boy from grammar school through high school and at McDonald’s to engage the public in a meaningful and intentional capacity that would leave them feeling seen, uplifted and empowered; and
WHEREAS, Tim launched his government career in July 1970, his first position at Cook County began in the Clerk’s Office; and
WHEREAS, Tim’s professionalism and dedication to helping others through exemplary customer service was continuously demonstrated in succeeding roles serving in the Treasurer’s Office, Auditor’s Office and eventually in the Department of Revenue where he’s been since 1991; and
WHEREAS, Tim’s passion and expertise in municipal finance and auditing are only matched by his commitment and dedication to mentorship and developing opportunities for the next generation of aspiring public servants; and
WHEREAS, Tim’s creativity and ingenuity played an integral role in modernizing tax enforcement and partnering with law enforcement to ensure compliance at Cook County; and
WHEREAS, Tim’s uncompromising loyalty and lifetime of work for Cook County is a true testament to the importance of public service and how this work can make a difference for residents; and
WHEREAS, Tim is retiring from public service, and we hope his days are filled with friends, family and fun; and
WHEREAS, Tim will be missed as he’s been an indispensable force and mentor to many; and
