PROPOSED RESOLUTION
HONORING LA RABIDA CHILDREN'S HOSPITAL ON ITS 130th ANNIVERSARY
WHEREAS, for 130 years, La Rabida Children's Hospital has stood as a beacon of compassionate, family-centered care, serving children and families across Chicago with dedication, dignity, and excellence; and
WHEREAS, La Rabida Children's Hospital traces its origins to a historic building constructed during the World's Columbian Exposition of 1893, reflecting a legacy rooted in one of Chicago's most significant cultural milestones; and
WHEREAS, since its founding in 1896, La Rabida Children's Hospital has been unwavering in its mission to provide specialized medical care to children with complex medical conditions, including chronic illnesses, disabilities, and developmental challenges; and
WHEREAS, the hospital has played a vital role in advancing pediatric healthcare through innovative treatment, rehabilitation services, and community-based programs that support the whole child and strengthen families; and
WHEREAS, La Rabida Children's Hospital has demonstrated a deep and enduring commitment to health equity, ensuring that children from underserved communities receive the high-quality care and support they need regardless of their families' financial circumstances; and
WHEREAS, generations of physicians, nurses, therapists, staff members, volunteers, and supporters have contributed their expertise, resources, and compassion to improve the lives of countless children, fostering hope, healing, and resilience; and
WHEREAS, the hospital's legacy of care continues to inspire collaboration, innovation, and a shared vision for a healthier future for all children;
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the President and Members of the Cook County Board Commissioners do hereby recognize and celebrate the 130th anniversary of La Rabida Children's Hospital, and commend its extraordinary contributions to the health and well-being of children and families in Chicago and beyond; and
