PROPOSED RESOLUTION
CELEBRATING MR. KENDALL C. JONES BEING AWARDED THE LINCOLN ACADEMY OF ILLINOIS ABRAHAM LINCOLN CIVIC ENGAGEMENT AWARD
WHEREAS, On Saturday, November 7, 2015, Kendall C. Jones was awarded the Abraham Lincoln Civic Engagement Award and thereby becomes a Student Laureate of the Lincoln Academy of Illinois; and
WHEREAS, Kendall C. Jones was awarded the Abraham Lincoln Civic Engagement Award for his leadership and service in the pursuit of the betterment of humanity and for overall excellence in curricular and extracurricular activities; and
WHEREAS, Kendall is currently a senior at VanderCook College of Music, pursuing a Bachelor of Music Education degree; and
WHEREAS, Kendall grew up in Lake Villa, Illinois, and began playing saxophone in fifth grade at Pleviak Elementary School; and
WHEREAS, Kendall attended Grayslake North High School, where he played in concert band, jazz band, jazz combo, marching band, and the pit orchestra; and
WHEREAS, Kendall began to explore his interest in teaching junior year when he became section leader in concert band and marching band, and became leader of the jazz combo; and
WHEREAS, Kendall attended the College of Lake County in Grayslake, where he pursued and received an Associate Degree in Music Performance for saxophone in 2013; and
WHEREAS, Kendall plays in the Symphonic Band, Concert Choir, Philharmonic Orchestra, Wind Ensemble, Jazz Ensemble, and Jazz Combo at VanderCook. He has also served as the treasurer for the VanderCook chapter of the National Association for Music Education for 2 years. Through these ensembles and positions, Kendall has advanced himself as a musician, performer, and leader; and
WHEREAS, Kendall has performed with multiple swing bands and jazz combos, performing at many locations such as receptions, weddings, and as a house band; and
