PROPOSED RESOLUTION
CONGRATULATING THE “PARK RIDGE PISTOLS 14U BLUE” SOFTBALL TEAM ON ITS AMAZING 2020 RECORD AND TOURNAMENT SEASON
WHEREAS, the dedicated group of young women on the Park Ridge Pistols travel softball team had a remarkably successful season with a tournament record of 41 wins, four losses, and one tie; and
WHEREAS, the Park Ridge Pistols 14U Blue players are: Ava Amelio, Park Ridge; Charlotte Baumann, Park Ridge; Mackenzie Bickhaus, Niles; Grace Dorgan, Rosemont; Ashley Gricius, Park Ridge; Hannah Hoffman, Park Ridge; Jessica Hoffman, Park Ridge; Maeve Lawlor, Park Ridge; Maura Lawlor, Park Ridge; Ryan Mullarkey, Park Ridge; Genciana Ortiz, Niles; and head coach Rich Hoffman; and
WHEREAS, the unexpected special challenges of this season, including daily uncertainty with changing guidelines, only sparked and solidified the team’s cohesiveness and tenacity, taking its performance to a new level; and
WHEREAS, the team understood the importance of playing well in pool play games and went undefeated in pool play for the entire season; and
WHEREAS, the Park Ridge Pistols’ tournament record included a fifth-place win, a third-place win, a second-place win, and a staggering four first-place undefeated wins in a row; and
WHEREAS, these young women committed to and played as a team; individual accomplishments and statistics were secondary to what was best for the team as a whole; and
WHEREAS, the team’s highlight was winning its first Nationals Tournament, Midwest NAFA, in Beloit, Wisconsin where it showed grace under pressure and was undefeated in seven games.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Cook County Board of Commissioners does hereby congratulate the Park Ridge Pistols 14U Blue softball team for its exemplary season; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that a suitable copy of this resolution be tendered to the team as a token of our appreciation for its great teamwork and accomplishments.
