Title: PROPOSED RESOLUTION IN MEMORY PAM COCKRELL WHEREAS, Pam Cockrell sadly passed away on August 17, 2024 and; WHEREAS, Pam was born December 28, 1951; and WHEREAS, Pam attended Evanston Township High School and graduated in 1969; and WHEREAS, Pam then met the love of her life, Sonny, at Southern Illinois University; and WHEREAS, Pam is survived by her husband (Sonny), children (Corrie, Josh (Lisa) and Kourtney), siblings (Bruce, Penny, and Paula), and her only precious grandchildren (Andr?, Jordan, and Liana) and all of her beloved nieces and nephews; and WHEREAS, Pam's professional career began with volunteering at HeadStart as a teenager, and eventually joining McDougal Littell textbook publishing company, for about a decade; and WHEREAS, Pam also gained extraordinary experience in medical billing and strong connections to many in the medical field, leading to her dedication to serve as a community resource for navigating medical insurance systems; and WHEREAS, Pam challenged t...

IN MEMORY PAM COCKRELL

 

WHEREAS, Pam Cockrell sadly passed away on August 17, 2024 and;

 

WHEREAS, Pam was born December 28, 1951; and

 

WHEREAS, Pam attended Evanston Township High School and graduated in 1969; and

 

WHEREAS, Pam then met the love of her life, Sonny, at Southern Illinois University; and

 

WHEREAS, Pam is survived by her husband (Sonny), children (Corrie, Josh (Lisa) and Kourtney), siblings (Bruce, Penny, and Paula), and her only precious grandchildren (André, Jordan, and Liana) and all of her beloved nieces and nephews; and

 

WHEREAS, Pam's professional career began with volunteering at HeadStart as a teenager, and eventually joining McDougal Littell textbook publishing company, for about a decade; and

 

WHEREAS, Pam also gained extraordinary experience in medical billing and strong connections to many in the medical field, leading to her dedication to serve as a community resource for navigating medical insurance systems; and

 

WHEREAS, Pam challenged the educational tracking systems that reinforced institutional racism in the classroom and petitioned for more cultural diversity in the fine arts; and

 

WHEREAS, Pam's heart and spirit was filled with love, generosity, empathy, and a very clear and direct moral compass, exemplified in so many ways - from Christmas cookies, to holiday cards, to daily "good morning" memes; and

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Board of Commissioners of Cook County hereby honors Pam Cockrell for her contributions to society and a life spent devoted to her family and community; and

                                       

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that a suitable copy of this Resolution be provided to the husband of Pam Cockrell  and the Cockrell family.
