PROPOSED RESOLUTION
CELEBRATING THE RETIREMENT OF REVEREND JEREMIAH "JERRY" BOLAND
WHEREAS, Reverend Jeremiah "Jerry" Boland will retire from his position as pastor at Our Lady of Perpetual Help (OLPH) in Glenview on June 30; and
WHEREAS, Reverend Boland grew up in a large Catholic family with a brother and cousins who joined the religious life; and
WHEREAS, while studying psychology and political science in college, Reverend Boland opted to pursue priesthood as well; and
WHEREAS, Reverend Boland was ordained as a Catholic priest in 1981 and joined OLPH in 2014; and
WHEREAS, prior to his time at OLPH, Reverend Boland served at various other parishes including St. James in Arlington Heights, Mary, Seat of Wisdom in Park Ridge, and Holy Cross in Deerfield; and
WHEREAS, under Reverand Boland's guidance, OLPH's school maintains an annual enrollment of about 820 students, which is the largest Catholic elementary school in the archdiocese; and
WHEREAS, Reverend Boland has been widely recognized for his leadership in energizing the OLPH parish, and is beloved by his congregation; and
WHEREAS, in addition to his stewardship at OLPH, Reverand Boland has been an active member of the archdiocese including as a delegate for international priests, overseeing the assignments of priests from around the world. He was also interim vicar for Vicariate I, overseeing the day-to-day administration of a geographic area within the archdiocese; and
WHEREAS, through his diocesan work, Reverand Boland was fortunate to cross paths with then Reverend Robert Prevost, now Pope Leo XIV; and
WHEREAS, in his retirement Reverend Boland hopes to travel, enjoy photography, and relish time with friends and family; and
WHEREAS, Reverend Boland has fostered a welcoming space of forward-thinking parishioners who are committed to their role in the fabric of the community; and
