Summary: The Department of Transportation and Highways respectfully submits for adoption a supplemental resolution appropriating funds for the improvement of County Highways at various locations throughout Cook County. This improvement, as proposed, will consist of milling and resurfacing of the existing bituminous pavement with hot-mix asphalt or diamond grinding existing concrete pavement and shall include patching, concrete pavement replacement, drainage repairs and adjustments, sidewalk removal and ADA compliant ramp replacement, traffic control and protection, pavement marking, landscaping, engineering and other necessary highway appurtenances.
This improvement will rehabilitate various severely deteriorated roadway segments which suffered from the unusually harsh winter weather and is needed to protect the public investment in the highway system and provide safe, efficient and sustainable highways.
On 5/21/2014, your Honorable Body approved an Improvement Resolution appropriating $2,750,000.00 towards completion of this improvement. Additional funding is required to cover the cost of work as bid.
