Summary: The Circuit Court of Cook County will receive state grant funding from the Illinois Criminal Justice Information Authority, Adult Redeploy Illinois Program to provide operation support to the Court's countywide network of Drug Treatment Courts. The seven drug courts serve individuals in both Chicago and the surrounding suburban communities, and provide an alternative to traditional prosecution through structured, treatment-focused interventions for individuals with substance use-related offenses. The goal of the program is to divert individuals from the Illinois Department of Corrections into community-based treatment and supervision. Drug courts operate under the evidence-based models that combine intensive judicial supervision; mandatory drug testing; graduated incentives, sanctions and therapeutic adjustments; and comprehensive behavioral health treatment to help participants with substance abuse disorders break the cycle of addiction and the crime that accompanies it. Those who successfully compleet the program are offered conviciton relief via expungment services.
