PROPOSED RESOLUTION
CONGRATULATING LAVERN MOORE ON THE OCCASION OF HER RETIREMENT FROM COOK COUNTY GOVERNMENT
WHEREAS, LaVern Moore has been a dedicated and loyal public servant for Cook County Government for 34 years; and
WHEREAS, LaVern Moore began her career at Cook County in 1991 as a Commissary Line Worker and served in Sanitation in the Laundry Room prior to it being contracted for the Cook County Sheriff’s Department under President Richard Phelan. She subsequently worked under Presidents John H. Stroger, Bobbie L. Steele, Todd Stroger, and Toni Preckwinkle; and
WHEREAS, LaVern remained with the Cook County Sheriff’s Department until her transition to Janitorial Services within the Department of Facilities Management, where she began her tenure as a Janitor II; and
WHEREAS, LaVern served as Janitor II at the Domestic Violence Courthouse; and
WHEREAS, LaVern’s responsibilities under her current title as Janitor II included providing custodial services, assisting Community Service Officers as lead contact and liaison for the Domestic Violence Courthouse. LaVern also volunteered to assist building tenants with outreach programs; and
WHEREAS, LaVern recognizes the Apostolic Church of God in Christ as her home church, remains committed in her faith, and visits other churches from time to time; and
WHEREAS, LaVern is especially grateful and expresses her gratitude for the opportunity to serve Cook County and its residents over the past 34 years in her many roles, and has also served her community as a Precinct Captain for the 1st District and 2nd Ward in the 1990’s under Bobby L. Rush as well as Madeline Hitchcock; and
WHEREAS, LaVern is grateful to all co-workers and supervisors who supported her over the years and deserve as much credit for helping her reach the finish line. The friendships and relationships that were built, along with the many memories made, she will forever cherish; and
