PROPOSED RESOLUTION
A RESOLUTION HONORING THE EVANSTON TOWNSHIP HIGH SCHOOL BOYS TRACK & FIELD TEAM FOR WINNING THE 2026 ILLINOIS HIGH SCHOOL ASSOCIATION STATE CHAMPIONSHIP
WHEREAS, the Cook County Board of Commissioners recognizes the Evanston Township High School (ETHS) Boys Track & Field Team for winning its 9th Illinois High School Association (IHSA) State Championship; and
WHEREAS, the team earned state titles in the 4x100m relay, the high jump, and set a state record in the 4x200m relay, while scoring key points in the 100m dash, 200m dash, 110m hurdles, 300m hurdles, and triple jump; and
WHEREAS, this victory reflects the dedication of E.T.H.S. student-athletes Mynard Blake, Jordan Harvey, Anthony Honore, Jaden Jean-Paul, Justin Johnson, Deshawn Priester, Emmanuel Roache, Lewis Scott, and Chance Simmons; and
WHEREAS, the team was led and mentored by Head Coach Don Michelin Sr. and Assistant Coaches Kevin Caines, Vernard Harris, Sam White, George Woolridge, Amanda Caines, Ron Tiongson, and Matt Cless;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Cook County Board of Commissioners, Cook County Commissioner Josina Morita, on behalf of the residents of Cook County, does hereby congratulate and honor the Evanston Township High School Boys Track & Field Team for winning the 2026 IHSA State Championship; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the team, the school and the individual team members, recognizing their accomplishments.
