WHEREAS, Wilbert Cook, Jr. was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania on January 13, 1943 to Ethel and Wilbert Cook, Sr.; and, WHEREAS, Wilbert Cook, Jr. moved with his family to Chicago's West Side in 1947, where was baptized at Carey Tercentenary A.M.E. Church and attended Howland Elementary School, Hess Upper Grade Center, and Crane High School; and, WHEREAS, Wilbert Cook, Jr. served in the armed forces from 1960 to 1963, returning to Chicago after his honorable discharge; and, WHEREAS, Wilbert Cook, Jr. fell in love and married Beverly F. Perry in 1963; and, WHEREAS, Wilbert Cook, Jr. moved to the Village of Maywood, Illinois in 1974, where he fell in love and married his second wife, Katherine Susie Walker; and, WHEREAS, Wilbert Cook, Jr. served his community as an insurance broker with Met Life and a tax consultant with H&R Block Tax Preparation Company; and, WHEREAS, Wilbert Cook, Jr. also worked as an independent ...

HONORING WILBERT COOK, JR.

 

WHEREAS, Wilbert Cook, Jr. was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania on January 13, 1943 to Ethel and Wilbert Cook, Sr.; and,

 

WHEREAS, Wilbert Cook, Jr. moved with his family to Chicago’s West Side in 1947, where was baptized at Carey Tercentenary A.M.E. Church and attended Howland Elementary School, Hess Upper Grade Center, and Crane High School; and,

 

WHEREAS, Wilbert Cook, Jr. served in the armed forces from 1960 to 1963, returning to Chicago after his honorable discharge; and,

 

WHEREAS, Wilbert Cook, Jr. fell in love and married Beverly F. Perry in 1963; and,

 

WHEREAS, Wilbert Cook, Jr. moved to the Village of Maywood, Illinois in 1974, where he fell in love and married his second wife, Katherine Susie Walker; and,

 

WHEREAS, Wilbert Cook, Jr. served his community as an insurance broker with Met Life and a tax consultant with H&R Block Tax Preparation Company; and,

 

WHEREAS, Wilbert Cook, Jr. also worked as an independent commodity broker and trader, and went on to start his own small business, WC Agency, which specialized in personal and business income taxes and accounting; and,

 

WHEREAS, Wilbert Cook, Jr. later moved to Milwaukee, Wisconsin, where he remained until his passing on November 20, 2015; and,

 

WHEREAS, Wilbert Cook, Jr. is survived and celebrated by his six children, Sheila, Wilbert III, Leonard, Lynette, Andre, and Saboris, his second wife, Katherine Susie, his stepdaughter, Sheila, his two brothers, Joseph and Torrence (Shirley), his devoted friend, Annette Dixon, and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, godchildren, nieces, nephews, in-laws, cousins, and friends;

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the President and Cook County Board of Commissioners honor the life of Wilbert Cook, Jr. and extend our deepest sympathy to his family and friends.
