PROPOSED RESOLUTION
HONORING THE NORTH LAWNDALE COLLEGE PREP BOYS TRACK & FIELD TEAM FOR THEIR HISTORIC 2025-2026 SEASON
WHEREAS, the North Lawndale College Prep Boys Track & Field Team demonstrated exceptional athletic achievement, discipline, perseverance, and teamwork throughout the 2026 season, bringing pride and distinction to the North Lawndale community and Cook County; and
WHEREAS, the 2026 North Lawndale College Prep Boys Track & Field Team captured the IHSA Class 1A Sectional Championship, earning only the second Boys Track & Field Sectional Championship in school history to accomplish this; and
WHEREAS, the team became only the third Chicago Public League charter school to win an IHSA Boys Track & Field Sectional Championship, solidifying its place among the premier track and field programs in the State of Illinois; and
WHEREAS, throughout the season, the team earned an impressive 123 total medals, secured three championship trophies, and successfully competed against and defeated programs from larger Class 2A and Class 3A schools, demonstrating excellence regardless of classification; and
WHEREAS, fourteen student-athletes qualified for the IHSA State Finals, showcasing the depth of talent, dedication, and commitment within the program; and
WHEREAS, several student-athletes established new school records during the historic season, including:
* Zechariah Cullins, School Record Holder in the 1600 Meter Run;
* Curtis Jones Jr., School Record Holder in the Shot Put; and
* Seancory Humphries, School Record Holder in the Triple Jump; and
WHEREAS, the following student-athletes earned qualification to the IHSA State Finals through their outstanding performances:
* Messiah Townsend - 100 Meter Dash
* Muhammad Hudhayfa - 110 Meter Hurdles
* Thomas Hayes - High Jump
* Amauri Cook - Long Jump
* Curtis Jones Jr. - Shot Put
* Seancory Humphries - Triple Jump
* 4x100 Meter Relay Team
* 4x200 Meter Relay Team
