WHEREAS, the Black United Fund of Illinois, Inc. was founded in April 8, 1985 to encourage philanthropic support and programs that address the critical needs of African-American communities statewide; and WHEREAS, the Black United Fund of Illinois' mission is to create, support and sustain African-American social, economic, cultural and educational institutions through the enhancement of African-American philanthropy; and WHEREAS, the Black United Fund of Illinois supports organizations that have demonstrated ability or potential to advance economic development in the African-American community and improve education in public schools; and WHEREAS, the Black United Fund of Illinois preserves African-American history and advances creative work in the performing, literary and visual arts; and WHEREAS, the Fund also offers health and social services to the community, especially services designed to improve the qual...

PROPOSED RESOLUTION

 

HONORING THE BLACK UNITED FUND OF ILLINOIS, INC.

 

WHEREAS, the Black United Fund of Illinois, Inc. was founded in April 8, 1985 to encourage philanthropic support and programs that address the critical needs of African-American communities statewide; and

 

WHEREAS, the Black United Fund of Illinois’ mission is to create, support and sustain African-American social, economic, cultural and educational institutions through the enhancement of African-American philanthropy; and

 

WHEREAS, the Black United Fund of Illinois supports organizations that have demonstrated ability or potential to advance economic development in the African-American community and improve education in public schools; and

 

WHEREAS, the Black United Fund of Illinois preserves African-American history and advances creative work in the performing, literary and visual arts; and

 

WHEREAS, the Fund also offers health and social services to the community, especially services designed to improve the quality of life for African-American families and residents of Cook County; and

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the President and the Cook County Board of Commissioners, on behalf of the residents of Cook County, recognize the Black United Fund of Illinois, Inc. for its essential contribution to the health and viability of Cook County.
