Summary: Authorization for the County of Cook on behalf of the Sheriff of Cook County to enter into and execute an Intergovernmental Agreement with U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs to allow access to the Sheriff's Computerized Criminal Apprehensive and Booking System ("CABS") via the Cook County Wide Area Network ("WAN"). The Countywide Live Scan Network provides support for law enforcement agencies in Cook County for the purpose of processing fingerprints through the Criminal Apprehension Booking System (CABS).
The County has entered into similar agreements with other law enforcement agencies throughout the County of Cook and the State of Illinois. The Sheriff of Cook County is seeking to make substantive changes to previous iterations of this agreement. The new changes include the addition of subsections that ensure partner agencies are in compliance with (1) Section 46-37 of the Cook County Code regarding the County's policy on responding to ICE Detainers, and (2) current Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) Security Policy Standards as published by the U.S. Federal Bureau o...
