Title: PROPOSED RESOLUTION HONORING THE LIFE OF MARIE THERESE RAOUL WHEREAS, Marie Therese Raoul, was born in Petit Goave, Haiti, on May 9, 1929, the daughter of Jules and Augusta Bance. She was raised with four brothers in Port-au-Prince, until she emigrated to the United States as a college student, studying interior design in New York City; and WHEREAS, Marie Therese Raoul married Dr. Janin J. Raoul from Port-de-Paix, Haiti on Sept. 24, 1960, and moved to Chicago, they eventually settled in the Hyde Park-Kenwood area and started a family. Through this union came Edwidge, a physician in Daytona Beach, Florida; Ninaj, an Immigration Advocate in Brooklyn; and Kwame, who is presently the Attorney General for the State of Illinois; and WHEREAS, Marie Therese Raoul, was always very involved in her children's education and volunteered at the schools they attended. She taught French at the Ancona School, 4770 S. Dorchester Avenue and embroidery at the former Harvard St. George School; and WH...

HONORING THE LIFE OF MARIE THERESE RAOUL

 

WHEREAS, Marie Therese Raoul, was born in Petit Goave, Haiti, on May 9, 1929, the daughter of Jules and Augusta Bance. She was raised with four brothers in Port-au-Prince, until she emigrated to the United States as a college student, studying interior design in New York City; and

 

WHEREAS, Marie Therese Raoul married Dr. Janin J. Raoul from Port-de-Paix, Haiti on Sept. 24, 1960, and moved to Chicago, they eventually settled in the Hyde Park-Kenwood area and started a family. Through this union came Edwidge, a physician in Daytona Beach, Florida; Ninaj, an Immigration Advocate in Brooklyn; and Kwame, who is presently the Attorney General for the State of Illinois; and

 

WHEREAS, Marie Therese Raoul, was always very involved in her children’s education and volunteered at the schools they attended. She taught French at the Ancona School, 4770 S. Dorchester Avenue and embroidery at the former Harvard St. George School; and

 

WHEREAS, Marie Therese Raoul developed her artistic skills, creating dynamic floral arrangements for weddings, cultural events and other special occasions. However, she never lost her unconditional love towards her family and friends as joyfully displayed at her son’s wedding the day after she was released into hospice care and just five days before her homecoming on July 18, 2019; and

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, THAT I, BILL LOWRY, COOK COUNTY COMMISSIONER of the 3rd DISTRICT, do hereby humbly stand in submission, and salute the life of Marie Therese Raoul

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that a suitable copy of this Resolution will be presented to the family of; and Marie Therese Raoul

 

BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED, that a copy of this Resolution will be filed within the Office of Cook County Commissioner Bill Lowry 3rd District.
