HONORING THE ACHIEVEMENTS AND LEADERSHIP OF ELISA WALKER
WHEREAS, Elisa Walker is a rising junior at Hampton University, one of the most prestigious historically Black institutions in the United States, where she is pursuing a major in International Studies inspired by her growing commitment to reparatory justice and global equity; and

WHEREAS, after completing her freshman year, Elisa secured an internship at FirstRepair, where her passion for reparations legislation-locally, nationally, and internationally-was ignited, shaping her academic and professional trajectory; and

WHEREAS, Elisa currently serves as Special Assistant to the Executive Director of FirstRepair, continuing to contribute remotely through her leadership, insight, and dedication to advancing the organization's mission; and

WHEREAS, prior to attending Hampton University, Elisa was a student at Evanston Township High School (ETHS) in Evanston, Illinois, where her interest in youth advocacy and empowerment first blossomed as she learned to advocate for herself and others; and

WHEREAS, during her time at ETHS, Elisa demonstrated her strong commitment to youth leadership through her involvement in numerous initiatives and organizations, including The Black Student Summit, The Girls Youth Leadership Program, and Girls Play Sports NFP, where she served as a mentor; and

WHEREAS, Elisa's ongoing dedication to empowering young people reflects her deep belief in uplifting youth voices, advocating for their rights, and fostering opportunities for their growth, confidence, and development; and

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Cook County Board of Commissioners, on behalf of the residents of Cook County and the Office of 13th District Commissioner Josina Morita, does hereby honor and recognize Elisa for her outstanding leadership, her commitment to youth empowerment, and her emerging contributions to the field of reparatory justice; and
