PROPOSED RESOLUTION
CONGRATULATING DEPUTY SHERIFF ROBERT RICO ON HIS RETIREMENT FROM THE COOK COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICE AFTER 30 YEARS OF SERVICE
WHEREAS, Robert Rico was born in September 6, 1949 in the State of Iowa; and
WHEREAS, Robert Rico served in the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam Era and was Honorably Discharged on March 1, 1974; and
WHEREAS, Robert Rico obtained his Associates Degree from the University of Illinois in 1976; and
WHEREAS, in 1986, Robert Rico successfully completed the State of Illinois Mandatory Firearms Training Program by the Illinois Local Governmental Law Enforcement Officers Training Board and was certified as a Peace Officer of the State of Illinois; and
WHEREAS, in the same year, Robert Rico completed the Deputy Sheriff/Correctional Officer/Officer Training at Training Academy and became a Deputy Sheriff at the Cook County Sheriff's Office; and
WHEREAS, since 1986, Robert Rico has worked in multiple departments under the Cook County Sheriff's Office including the Photo Unit, the Sheriff Department Lockup, the Warrants Department, and Court Services; and
WHEREAS, each year from 1987 to 2016, Robert Rico earned certifications in the Hazardous Materials Training, U.S. Department of Homeland Security Training, Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Training, Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Certification Training, Use of Force Training, and Mandatory Firearms Qualification with Duty Weapon from the Service Training at Cook County Sheriff Training Institute; and
WHEREAS, Robert Rico also worked for the Board of Elections of Chicago as an Investigator for elections from 1987 to 2011; and
WHEREAS, Robert Rico volunteered in numerous campaigns for Chicago, Cook County, and State of Illinois elections throughout his career; and
WHEREAS, on December 23, 2016, Robert Rico officially retired after a 30-year career at the Cook County Sheriff's Office.
