PROPOSED RESOLUTION
HONORING THE RONALD MCDONALD GLOBAL DAY OF CHANGE
WHEREAS, Ronald McDonald House Charities of Chicago and Northwest Indiana supports programs that directly improve the health and well-being of children and their families throughout the Cook County metropolitan area; and
WHEREAS, Ronald McDonald Houses in Cook County provide lodging, meals and support to families with children receiving treatment at local hospitals and medical centers; and
WHEREAS, Ronald McDonald Family Rooms offer parents a place to rest and regroup inside hospitals while remaining near their child; and
WHEREAS, Ronald McDonald House Charities strive to create a community where children and their families embrace life and healing with a sense of hope, enthusiasm, courage and joy; and
WHEREAS, in 2016 Ronald McDonald House Charities of Chicago and Northwest Indiana provided services to 1,512 children with their Care Mobile, assisted 63 scholars attending college, and their Houses and Family Rooms have supported 4,960 families during their most difficult and stressful times; and
WHEREAS, Ronald McDonald House Charities of Chicago and Northwest Indiana participated in the Ronald McDonald House Charities Global Day of Change on October 16, 2017, which commemorated the opening of the first Ronald McDonald House in October of 1974; and
WHEREAS, the Global Day of Change was an opportunity to remind customers, donors, volunteers and communities that, by dropping spare change into a donation box at a local McDonald's, they are helping countless families in their time of greatest need; and
WHEREAS, spare change dropped in donation boxes helped raise approximately $28 million last year in the United States for Ronald McDonald House Charities and the families they serve.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Cook County Board of Commissioners does hereby express their sincerest gratitude to McDonald's Corporation, their management, employees, owner-operators and volunt...
