PROPOSED RESOLUTION
A RESOLUTION REMEMBERING GOLDEN “GULAB” SINGH
WHEREAS, Golden “Gulab” Singh was a legendary Indian veteran track and field athlete who achieved extraordinary success in international masters athletics after the age of 75, representing India with distinction and earning 41 gold, 6 silver, and 3 bronze medals; and
WHEREAS, born in 1905 in Sirsa, Haryana, India, Singh served in the military and retired as a Nayab Subedar from the Burma Army in 1946, later serving as a physical training instructor in Haryana schools from 1947 to 1960; and
WHEREAS, Singh entered international masters competition in 1981 at approximately 76 years of age and went on to establish four world records, competing internationally in the triple jump, long jump, high jump, sprints, discus, and other events; and
WHEREAS, at the 1987 World Masters Championships in Melbourne, Australia, Singh set an M80 triple jump world record of 8.29 meters, further establishing his remarkable place in masters athletics history; and
WHEREAS, his extraordinary life remains an enduring example of perseverance, discipline, service, courage, and excellence, inspiring athletes, seniors, the Indian diaspora, and future generations around the world; and
WHEREAS, Adbhhut Media – Newspaper & Channel and the Midwest Punjabi Association (MPA), founded by Gurmeet Singh Dhalwan, are committed to preserving meaningful legacies, promoting cultural heritage, recognizing extraordinary individuals, and strengthening communities; and
WHEREAS, Gurmeet Singh Dhalwan, Founder President; Prachi Jaitly, General Secretary; and Jasbir Kaur Mann, Advisory Board Member of the Midwest Punjabi Association (MPA), proudly join in recognizing and honoring the extraordinary life and legacy of Golden “Gulab” Singh;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the life, historic athletic achievements, and enduring legacy of Golden “Gulab” Singh be recognized and honored with admiration, respect, and pride, ...
