PROPOSED RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, Ed Mullen has been voted "Best Lawyer" for The Chicago Reader's Best of Chicago 2024; and
WHEREAS, Ed graduated with a degree in economics from the University of Pennsylvania and graduated with highest honors from The George Washington University Law School, where he served as President of the Student Bar Association and was a member of the George Washington Law Review and Moot Court Board; and
WHEREAS, Ed was a Litigation Partner at Ross, Dixon & Bell in Chicago (now Troutman Sanders) and a Litigation Associate at Howard Rice (now Arnold & Porter), where he litigated complex commercial lawsuits in state and federal courts around the country and maintained an active pro bono practice; and
WHEREAS, for several years, Ed was the Managing Attorney for Community Integration at Access Living, a disability rights organization in Chicago. There, he served as Access Living's lead counsel on three class action cases in federal court alleging that Illinois violated the Americans with Disabilities Act in administering its Medicaid plan. All three cases were settled favorably, resulting in long-term Consent Decrees requiring the State to take significant steps to allow thousands of people with disabilities to live in integrated settings in their community; and
WHEREAS, In addition to his litigation experience, Ed is a mediator trained by the Center for Conflict Resolution in Chicago and Northwestern University. He has mediated numerous civil disputes and participated in a variety of forms of alternative dispute resolution; and
WHEREAS, Ed is a member of the Illinois Bar and the Northern District of Illinois General and Trial Bars, as well as the Federal Circuit Court of Appeals and federal courts around the country. He is an active member of several bar, community and political organizations (including Northside Democracy for America) in Chicago and Illinois.
