Title: PROPOSED RESOLUTION CELEBRATING THE 100TH ANNIVERSARY OF VETERANS OF FOREIGN WARS PROSPECT POST 1337 WHEREAS, Veterans of Foreign Wars Prospect Post 1337 was chartered on April 7, 1925, by 15 residents of Mount Prospect and has operated continuously since then; and WHEREAS, the Veterans of Foreign Wars traces its roots back to 1899 when veterans of the Spanish-American War (1898) and the Philippine Insurrection (1899-1902) founded local organizations to secure rights and benefits for their service; and WHEREAS, today, the VFW's worldwide membership stands at more than 1.4 million members of the VFW and its Auxiliary; and WHEREAS, the Mission of the VFW is to foster camaraderie among United States veterans of overseas conflicts, to serve our veterans, the military and our communities, and to advocate on behalf of all veterans; and WHEREAS, the Vision of the VFW is to ensure that veterans are respected for their service, always receive their earned entitlements, and are recognized ...

CELEBRATING THE 100TH ANNIVERSARY OF VETERANS OF FOREIGN WARS PROSPECT POST 1337

WHEREAS, Veterans of Foreign Wars Prospect Post 1337 was chartered on April 7, 1925, by 15 residents of Mount Prospect and has operated continuously since then; and

WHEREAS, the Veterans of Foreign Wars traces its roots back to 1899 when veterans of the Spanish-American War (1898) and the Philippine Insurrection (1899-1902) founded local organizations to secure rights and benefits for their service; and

WHEREAS, today, the VFW's worldwide membership stands at more than 1.4 million members of the VFW and its Auxiliary; and

WHEREAS, the Mission of the VFW is to foster camaraderie among United States veterans of overseas conflicts, to serve our veterans, the military and our communities, and to advocate on behalf of all veterans; and

WHEREAS, the Vision of the VFW is to ensure that veterans are respected for their service, always receive their earned entitlements, and are recognized for the sacrifices they and their loved ones have made on behalf of this great country; and

WHEREAS, members of VFW Post 1337 have served veterans since its creation and, in keeping with its Core Values, also served the Village of Mount Prospect with a variety of service projects; and

WHEREAS, VFW Post 1337 has earned numerous national recognitions including six consecutive All American designations, National Outstanding Community Service Awards in 2012-2022 and 2022-2023, and the Grand Award in the 2023 VFW National Publication Contest for their newsletter in the Post Publication/Small Frequency category; and

WHEREAS, VFW Post 1337 will mark its centennial with a celebration on April 5, 2025, featuring a gourmet dinner, dancing, and an address from Keynote Speaker and Medal of Honor Recipient, Allen J. Lynch; and
