Title: PROPOSED RESOLUTION HONORING THE SERVICE OF CHIEF WILLIAM FITZPATRICK WHEREAS, after a nearly 55-year career in law enforcement, Village of Glenview Police Chief William Fitzpatrick announced his retirement on Tuesday, September 2; and WHEREAS, Chief Fitzpatrick started his career in law enforcement as patrol office in Rockford, Illinois; and WHEREAS, in 1985, Chief Fitzpatrick rose to the rank of chief of the Rockford Police Department, a post he held until 1997; and WHEREAS, following his time in Rockford, Chief Fitzpatrick served as chief of police in Delavan, Wisconsin, for three years; and WHEREAS, Chief Fitzpatrick began leading the Glenview Police Department in 2001; and WHEREAS, Chief Fitzpatrick is credited with guiding the Glenview Police Department through growth and change while maintaining high public safety standards; and WHEREAS, in 2008, Chief Fitzpatrick championed the ratification of the Glenview Police Department's first union pact; and WHER...

HONORING THE SERVICE OF CHIEF WILLIAM FITZPATRICK

WHEREAS, after a nearly 55-year career in law enforcement, Village of Glenview Police Chief William Fitzpatrick announced his retirement on Tuesday, September 2; and

WHEREAS, Chief Fitzpatrick started his career in law enforcement as patrol office in Rockford, Illinois; and

WHEREAS, in 1985, Chief Fitzpatrick rose to the rank of chief of the Rockford Police Department, a post he held until 1997; and

WHEREAS, following his time in Rockford, Chief Fitzpatrick served as chief of police in Delavan, Wisconsin, for three years; and

WHEREAS, Chief Fitzpatrick began leading the Glenview Police Department in 2001; and

WHEREAS, Chief Fitzpatrick is credited with guiding the Glenview Police Department through growth and change while maintaining high public safety standards; and

WHEREAS, in 2008, Chief Fitzpatrick championed the ratification of the Glenview Police Department's first union pact; and

WHEREAS, Chief Fitzpatrick was an instrumental leader in the design and creation of the Glenview Police Department building which is now Glenview's Municipal Center; and

WHEREAS, under Chief Fitzpatrick's guidance, the Glenview Police Department hired 95 new employees, implemented a body-worn camera program, established an unarmed Safety Response Team, and expanded community outreach initiatives such as the Citizens Police and Youth Police academies; and

WHEREAS, Chief Fitzpatrick committed to serving residents and businesses alike through the investment in and implementation of new technology and training; and

WHEREAS, Chief Fitzpatrick is lauded by his peers for his service and dedication to the post he held for nearly 25 years; and

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Cook County Board of Commissioners do hereby thank Chief Fitzpatrick for his decades of dedicated service to the Glenview community and celebrate his retirement; and
