PROPOSED RESOLUTION
HONORING THE OMEGA DELTA YOUTH BASEBALL AND SOFTBALL LEAGUE (ODYBL) ON THEIR 20th ANNIVERSARY
WHEREAS, the Omega Delta Youth Baseball and Softball League (ODYBL) is celebrating its 20th Anniversary; and 
WHEREAS, the ODYBL is located at the Hoyne Park playground at 3417 S. Hamilton in the McKinley Park community on the southwest side of the city of Chicago; and 
WHEREAS, the ODYBL was established by five members of the Omega Delta National Fraternity and one dedicated neighborhood parent; and 
WHEREAS, before the ODYBL, Hoyne Park was home to the Ralph E. Bermele Little League for over sixty years; and 
WHEREAS, in 2003, it was in the Ralph E. Bermele Little League that the founding members of the ODYBL began their coaching careers until the league sadly disbanded in 2003; and  
WHEREAS, after two years of tournament play, the coaches felt it was time to expand their program and revive a league at Hoyne Park; and 
WHEREAS, following months of recruiting, planning, and fundraising, along with the support of parents, players, volunteers, and sponsors, the ODYBL was formalized; and 
WHEREAS, the ODYBL serves Chicago's McKinley Park and surrounding communities with seasonal baseball and softball team play, clinics, tournaments, and events for young players ages 3 to 16; and 
WHEREAS, since 2006, the ODYBL has grown from 2 teams to 25, with over 300 registered young players each year; and 
WHEREAS, in 2009, the ODYBL introduced a new softball division for girls ages 10-13; and 
WHEREAS, in 2010, it expanded to include young girls ages 14-16, and in 2013, ages 8-10 and 16-18; and 
WHEREAS, the ODYBL is committed to continuous growth and empowerment. 
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Cook County Board of Commissioners does hereby recognize and honor the 20th Anniversary of the Omega Delta Youth Baseball and Softball League (ODYBL); and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this text be spread upon the proceedings of this Honorable B...
