PROPOSED RESOLUTION
HONORING GLENVIEW VILLAGE PRESIDENT JIM PATTERSON ON HIS RETIREMENT
WHEREAS, Jim Patterson served the Glenview community for two terms at the Village President, before passing the baton in May of 2021; and
WHEREAS, as Village President, Jim Patterson deftly guided Glenview residents through the COVID-19 pandemic, ensuring the residents and businesses alike were kept apprised of new changes and directives, and encouraging residents to remain "Glenview Strong;" and
WHEREAS, Jim Patterson was ardent about ensuring village-wide projects were completed in a expeditious manner while benefitting residents, including the reconstruction of roads, the installation of sidewalks and water mains, and improvements to the downtown Metra train station; and
WHEREAS, under Jim Patterson's leadership Glenview implemented the Glenview Connect initiative, offering residents an opportunity to contribute their own village planning ideas; and
WHEREAS, Jim Patterson is celebrated by colleagues and Glenview residents as a consummate leader with a caring demeanor and keen business acumen; and
WHEREAS, Jim Patterson is known as a people person, and is sympathetic and responsive to the requests of his constituents; and
WHEREAS, prior to his service as Village President, Jim Patterson served two terms as a Village Trustee from 2003 to 2011; and
WHEREAS, during his tenure as a Trustee, Jim Patterson chaired the Milwaukee Avenue Corridor Committee and served on the Glen Tax Increment Financing District (TIF) Retirement Committee; and
WHEREAS, Jim Patterson was an active member of the Illinois Department of Transportation's Willow Road Community Advisory Group; and
WHEREAS, Jim Patterson was a member of the Glenview Plan Commission from 2000 to 2003; and
WHEREAS, Jim Patterson co-chaired the 1998 Glenview Park District Farms and Fields Referendum Committee that was instrumental in acquisition of historic Wagner Farms and 37 acres of athletic fields; and
