Title: PROPOSED RESOLUTION HONORING THE MEMORY OF SALVATORE "SAL" FERRARA II FEBRUARY 28, 1951 - NOVEMBER 27, 2014 WHEREAS Sal Ferrara served as Chief Executive Officer of the Ferrara Candy Company from 1986-2014, and was known as an icon of the candy making industry, and, WHEREAS , Sal Ferrara will be remembered by succeeding generations as a generous benefactor of the Park District of Forest Park, the Chamber of Commerce, St. Bernadine Parish, Forest Park Little League, and the Forest Park Police and Fire Departments, and, WHEREAS Sal Ferrara was known throughout the community as the epitome of civic responsibility, generosity and pride, and, WHEREAS the Ferrara Pan Candy Company was founded in 1908 by Sal's grandfather, and carried on by Sal's father, Nello, and, WHEREAS the Ferrara Pan Candy Company moved to Forest Park, Illinois in 1959, and, WHEREAS after assuming leadership of the Company Sal took the company from $3 million to $350 million in value, and, ...

HONORING THE MEMORY OF SALVATORE "SAL" FERRARA II FEBRUARY 28, 1951 - NOVEMBER 27, 2014
 
WHEREAS Sal Ferrara served as Chief Executive Officer of the Ferrara Candy Company from 1986-2014, and was known as an icon of the candy making industry, and,
 
WHEREAS , Sal Ferrara will be remembered by succeeding generations as a generous benefactor of the Park District of Forest Park, the Chamber of Commerce, St. Bernadine Parish, Forest Park Little League, and the Forest Park Police and Fire Departments, and,
 
WHEREAS Sal Ferrara was known throughout the community as the epitome of civic responsibility, generosity and pride, and,
 
WHEREAS the Ferrara Pan Candy Company was founded in 1908 by Sal's grandfather, and carried on by Sal's father, Nello, and,  
 
WHEREAS the Ferrara Pan Candy Company moved to Forest Park, Illinois in 1959, and,
 
WHEREAS after assuming leadership of the Company Sal took the company from $3 million to $350 million in value, and,
 
WHEREAS the many iconic American candy varieties produced by the Ferrara Candy Company include Red Hots, Boston Baked Beans, Lemonheads, and Atomic Fireballs, and,  
 
WHEREAS under the leadership of Sal Ferrara the Ferrara Candy Company made one million pounds of candy every day, and,
 
WHEREAS Sal Ferrara's love of the Chicago Blackhawks was a central passion in his life, and,
 
WHEREAS Sal Ferrara was a significant contributor to the Blackhawks Alumni Association, which funds hockey scholarships for students, and,
 
WHEREAS Sal Ferrara was both on the ice and in the locker room after his beloved Chicago Blackhawks won the Stanley Cup in 2010 in Philadelphia, and,
 
WHEREAS Sal Ferrara was a leader of great strength who gave 100% to the confectioners' industry and his community, and,
 
WHEREAS Sal Ferrara's generosity and charitable work were legion, and,
 
WHEREAS Sal Ferrara was a loving husband to Andrea and a loving father to Nello II, Alana, Lauren, Bobby, and Erik, and a loving grandfather to Matthew, Charlie and Brooke,
 
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Cook County President and Board of Commissioners offer their sincere condolences to the family of Salvatore "Sal" Ferrara II, recognize his extraordinary accomplishments and express their sincerest gratitude and appreciation for his many contributions to his community, to Cook County, and to the lives of all those he touched.
 
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a suitable copy of this resolution be made available to the family of Sal Ferrara.
