Title: PROPOSED RESOLUTION MINNIE MINOSO, IN MEMORIAM WHEREAS Almighty God in His infinite wisdom has called Minnie Minoso from our midst, and WHEREAS Minnie Minoso was a trailblazer as one of the Major League's first black Latino All-Stars, and WHEREAS Minnie Minoso will be fondly remembered as one of the finest ballplayers to have graced the City of Chicago, being the only modern major league player to play in five decades, having been selected for nine All-Star Games, and winning three Golden Gloves, and WHEREAS Minnie Minoso helped the White Sox reach out to Chicago's Hispanic and African-American communities by building bridges during a time of racial transformation of the city, and WHEREAS Minnie Minoso loved Chicago, its fans, and its working class roots, and WHEREAS Minnie Minoso was always willing to say hello to fans and stop to sign an autograph, and WHEREAS the White Sox retired Minnie Minoso's number nine jersey in 1983 and a statue of him stands at ...

WHEREAS Almighty God in His infinite wisdom has called Minnie Minoso from our midst, and

WHEREAS all who knew him will attest that Minnie Minoso was a kind and compassionate man, virtuous of character and gentle in spirit, admired and respected by his many friends, neighbors, and fans and dearly loved by his family; and
 
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of Commissioners of Cook County that the Board does hereby offer its deepest condolences and most heartfelt sympathy to the family and many friends of Minnie Minoso, and joins them in sorrow at this time of loss; and
 
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this text be spread upon the official proceedings of this Honorable Body, and a suitable copy of the same be tendered to the family of Minnie Minoso so that his memory may be so honored and ever cherished.end
