Title: PROPOSED RESOLUTION CONGRATULATING THE OAK PARK RIVER FOREST HIGH SCHOOL WRESTLING TEAM ON WINNING THEIR SECOND CONSECUTIVE CLASS 3A STATE CHAMPIONSHIP WHEREAS, on February 28, 2015 the wrestling team of Oak Park River Forest High School, the Huskies, repeated as Class 3A state champions, defeating Sandburg High School 39-16 in the final of the IHSA Dual Team Tournament at U.S. Cellular Coliseum in Bloomington; and WHEREAS, in 2014 the Huskies edged Marist 31-22 to claim the 3A dual-team tourney title and also produced four individual state champions in Davonte Mahomes, Isaiah White, Larry Early and Kamal Bey and 10 All-State student wrestlers overall; and WHEREAS, the Huskies have won three state championships over the last seven years, including two undefeated teams (28-0 this season; 24-0 in 2009); and WHEREAS, season, OPRF went 29-1 in dual matches en route to a state championship in 2014; and, WHEREAS, the Huskies also own a 42 dual-match winning streak; and, WHEREAS,...

PROPOSED RESOLUTION
 
CONGRATULATING THE OAK PARK RIVER FOREST HIGH SCHOOL WRESTLING TEAM ON WINNING THEIR SECOND CONSECUTIVE CLASS 3A STATE CHAMPIONSHIP
 
WHEREAS, on February 28, 2015 the wrestling team of Oak Park River Forest High School, the Huskies, repeated as Class 3A state champions, defeating Sandburg High School 39-16 in the final of the IHSA Dual Team Tournament at U.S. Cellular Coliseum in Bloomington; and
WHEREAS, in 2014 the Huskies edged Marist 31-22 to claim the 3A dual-team tourney title and also produced four individual state champions in Davonte Mahomes, Isaiah White, Larry Early and Kamal Bey and 10 All-State student wrestlers overall; and
WHEREAS, the Huskies have won three state championships over the last seven years, including two undefeated teams (28-0 this season; 24-0 in 2009); and
WHEREAS, season, OPRF went 29-1 in dual matches en route to a state championship in 2014; and,
WHEREAS, the Huskies also own a 42 dual-match winning streak; and,
WHEREAS, nationally, OPRF finished as the top-ranked team in the country per several high school wrestling websites, such as InterMat, Flo Wrestling and Open Mat; and
WHEREAS, Huskie student wrestlers Larry Early and Isaiah White individually closed the season at 30-2 and 42-0, respectively; and
WHEREAS, Huskie student wrestler Isaiah White produced an undefeated season as the nation's top-ranked wrestler at 152 pounds, highlighted by his title in mid-December at the prestigious Walsh Ironman tournament hosted by Walsh Jesuit High School in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio; and
WHEREAS, Huskie student wrestler Isaiah White is the first Huskie student wrestler to win a title at the Walsh Ironman; and
WHEREAS, Oak Park and River Forest high school junior and Huskie student wrestler Jason Renteria captured perfectly the essence of the success of the Huskie wrestling program when he said, "We don't wrestle for ourselves, we wrestle for each other. Our team is so close. A lot of us wrestled together when we were younger and we do a lot of things together like team dinners. We dominated at state and I can't wait to come back next season and try to make more history."
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the President and Cook County Board of Commissioners that the Oak Park River Forest Huskies Wrestling Team is to be honored and commended, not just for their exceptional team and individual performances on the wrestling mat, but for their exceptional conduct and character as students and young men.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the students of the Oak Park River Forest Huskies Wrestling Team, their coaches and community, be congratulated on their Class 3A state championship by the President and the Cook County Board of Commissioners and presented with a ceremonial copy of this resolution.
