Title: PROPOSED RESOLUTION IN HONOR OF GIOVANNI GULLO ON HIS 70TH BIRTHDAY WHEREAS, the members of the Cook County Board of Commissioners are proud to congratulate Giovanni Gullo, an esteemed resident of Elk Grove Village and President and CEO of Gullo International Development Corporation on the occasion of the celebration of his 70th birthday on February 14, 2015; and WHEREAS, Giovanni was born in Caccamo, Sicily in 1945 where he was raised until his family realized the American dream and immigrated to Chicago and upon his arrival at the age of 17, Giovanni took up work for $50 per week as a busboy at Como Inn Restaurant while attending school to learn English; and WHEREAS, in the late 60's, Giovanni pursued commercial painting for industrial developers and shortly thereafter, after much perseverance and tenacity, purchased his own land at Oakton and Lively Boulevards in Elk Grove Village, putting him on his way as an industrial developer and more than four decades after his ini...

IN HONOR OF GIOVANNI GULLO ON HIS 70TH BIRTHDAY
 
WHEREAS, the members of the Cook County Board of Commissioners are proud to congratulate Giovanni Gullo, an esteemed resident of Elk Grove Village and President and CEO of Gullo International Development Corporation on the occasion of the celebration of his 70th birthday on February 14, 2015; and
 
WHEREAS, Giovanni was born in Caccamo, Sicily in 1945 where he was raised until his family realized the American dream and immigrated to Chicago and upon his arrival at the age of 17, Giovanni took up work for $50 per week as a busboy at Como Inn Restaurant while attending school to learn English; and
 
WHEREAS, in the late 60's, Giovanni pursued commercial painting for industrial developers and shortly thereafter, after much perseverance and tenacity, purchased his own land at Oakton and Lively Boulevards in Elk Grove Village, putting him on his way as an industrial developer and more than four decades after his initial vision, Gullo International is one of the largest industrial and commercial developers and landlords in the O'Hare International Airport area; and
 
WHEREAS, since 1968, Gullo International prides itself on providing the highest quality in building design and construction and Gullo is renowned for providing the market with modern, free standing, Class A image buildings, all located in prime locations throughout O'Hare with open floor plans, interior tropical landscaping, beautiful window lines and abundant glass and skylights for natural lighting and continues to honor his business mission statement of  "land as far as you can see" and "building a better image"; and
WHEREAS, Giovanni continues to remain very active in his community serving with distinction as founder and Executive Director of the Elk Grove Village Italian Sister Cities with Termini Imerese, Sicily organization and Executive Director of the Bensenville Sister Cities with Zihuatanejo-Ixtapa, Mexico organization, together with Cook County, under the Sister Cities International program; and
 
WHEREAS, the Joint Civic Committee of Italian Americans bestowed the honor of Chairman of the 2014 Chicago Columbus Day Parade to Giovanni in recognition of his many years of leadership and contributions to the Chicago area's Italian American community and he continues to serve in various capacities sharing his wisdom, knowledge and passions; and
 
WHEREAS, Giovanni and his wife Maria raised their children Virginia, Mariann, Mario and John in Elk Grove Village and is the proud grandfather of 4 grandchildren: Giovanni, Riccardo, Veronica and Juliana; and
 
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Cook County Board of Commissioners joins with his family and friends in extending our heartfelt congratulations and best wishes to Giovanni Gullo on the occasion of his 70th birthday; that we commend him on achieving a long and fulfilling life and enriching the lives of everyone he came into contact with, and we wish him continued happiness and good health in the future.
 
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the text of this resolution be spread across the journal of proceedings of this honorable body and that a suitable copy hereof be presented to Giovanni Gullo as a token of our true admiration for him.end
