PROPOSED RESOLUTION
A RESOLUTION HONORING JAN KRALOVEC, COOK COUNTY DIRECTOR OF ELECTIONS ON THE OCCASION OF HER RETIREMENT
WHEREAS, after receiving her Master's degree in Public Health from the University of Michigan and her Master's degree from the University of Chicago in Social Policy Jan Kralovec brought her abundant talents to Cook County, first, working alongside Dr. Quentin Young at the Health and Medicine Policy Research Group and then later to working for Cook County Board President Phelan whom she served as Senior Health Policy Analyst; and
WHEREAS, Jan Kralovec began her career at the Cook County Clerk's Office on Valentine's Day 1995; and
WHEREAS, Jan Kralovec worked on tax, vital records and ethics policy; she spent the greatest part of her time at the Cook County Clerk's Office working tirelessly to insure that elections went smoothly and expanding the franchise; she worked her way up to Director of Elections; and
WHEREAS, Jan Kralovec will long be remembered for her remarkable accomplishments in the elections arena, which included playing a major role in Cook County's implementation of the Help America Vote Act, the implementation of the Illinois Motor Voter law and Automatic Voter Registration; and
WHEREAS, one of the highlights of Jan Kralovec's work on the implementation of the Help America Vote Act and fighting for the Motor Voter law in Illinois was meeting and getting to work with a bright young attorney named Barack Obama who later achieved some success in politics; and
WHEREAS, Jan Kralovec capped her career in Cook County by being named Deputy Cook County Clerk where her warmth, compassion, attention to detail and fairness have earned her the respect of co-workers, friends and the general public; and
WHEREAS, after her retirement Jan Kralovec will spend her additional time in pursuit of her lifelong passions; she is a longtime supporter of the arts, theater, outdoor activity and politics. She is a vor...
