Title: PROPOSED RESOLUTION IN HONOR OF CONCETTA JOAN O'MALLEY ON THE OCCASION OF HER 95TH BIRTHDAY WHEREAS, Concetta Joan O'Malley (whom we will refer to as Connie, she never liked Concetta) will celebrate her 95th birthday on September 16, 2015 with friends and family; and WHEREAS, Connie O'Malley was born Concetta Fama on September 16, 1920 in Boston, Massachusetts; and WHEREAS, Connie O'Malley grew up in South Boston along with her sister Anna and brothers Leo and Carmen; married the love of her life Michael Francis O'Malley on October 27, 1936; raised four children Michael, Eileen, Robert and Cook County Commissioner Joan Patricia Murphy; has eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; and WHEREAS, a lifelong involved, committed member of her community and church, Connie O'Malley became the president of every organization she joined; formed the first women's auxiliary of the Knights of Columbus in South Boston; instituted the "Senior Trips" program for retired senio...

PROPOSED RESOLUTION

 

IN HONOR OF CONCETTA JOAN O’MALLEY ON THE OCCASION OF HER 95TH BIRTHDAY

 

WHEREAS, Concetta Joan O’Malley (whom we will refer to as Connie, she never liked Concetta) will celebrate her 95th birthday on September 16, 2015 with friends and family; and

 

WHEREAS, Connie O’Malley was born Concetta Fama on September 16, 1920 in Boston, Massachusetts; and

 

WHEREAS, Connie O’Malley grew up in South Boston along with her sister Anna and brothers Leo and Carmen; married the love of her life Michael Francis O’Malley on October 27, 1936; raised four children Michael, Eileen, Robert and Cook County Commissioner Joan Patricia Murphy; has eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; and 

 

WHEREAS, a lifelong involved, committed member of her community and church, Connie O’Malley became the president of every organization she joined; formed the first women’s auxiliary of the Knights of Columbus in South Boston; instituted the “Senior Trips” program for retired seniors paid for by the companies they had worked for; and

 

WHEREAS, a consummate actress, singer, and dancer, Connie O’Malley starred in little theater productions performed in all the local churches and organizations; and

 

WHEREAS, Connie O’Malley, an ardent political activist in her day, volunteered in every Local, State and Federal election from the early 40s and on until 2002 working for such notables as Mayor Michael James Curley, Billy Bulger for State Senate, John F. Kennedy for the Senate and Presidency, and Mayor Ray Flynn (later Ambassador to the Vatican); and was thrilled to be able for the first time to vote for her daughter Joan Patricia Murphy in the February 2010 primary election; and

 

WHEREAS, Connie O’Malley now resides at The Holland Home in South Holland where she is an active member of the community; and

 

WHEREAS, Connie O’Malley is known to enjoy an occasional trip to the casino to play the slots (and usually wins); and

 

WHEREAS, Connie O’Malley will celebrate her birthday with forty to fifty of her close friends and family where she will sing, laugh and tell amusing stories of her life; and

 

WHEREAS, Connie O’Malley has a zest for living, has the ability to bring joy and laughter into the lives of those around her and has dedicated her life to helping family, friends, and her community.

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Cook County Board of Commissioners does hereby wish Connie O’Malley a very happy 95th birthday; and

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a suitable copy of this resolution be tendered to Concetta J. O’Malley in commemoration of this most auspicious occasion and that it also be spread upon the official proceedings of this Honorable Body.
