Title: PROPOSED RESOLUTION HONORING THE LIFE OF NANCY DAVENPORT WHEREAS, almighty God, in his infinite wisdom, saw fit to call Nancy Davenport from our midst on November 4, 2015; and, WHEREAS, Nancy Davenport was born on June 17, 1922 in Lexington, Mississippi to Lee- Henry Tillman and Callie Cooper Tillman. Nancy was the second oldest of fourteen children and ten preceded her in death; and, WHEREAS, Nancy met and married the love of her life, T.L. Davenport, a union which produced ten children- six girls and four boys; and, WHEREAS, Nancy attended Saints Industrial School in Lexington, Missippi; and, WHEREAS, Nancy gave her life to the Lord at an early age. She was a member of Robertson Temple Church of God in Christ, where she was the cook of the church and she sang in the choir; and, WHEREAS, Nancy was also a midwife, and helped birth many children into the world; and, WHEREAS, Nancy moved to Chicago, Illinois in 1966, where she became a faithful member of th...

HONORING THE LIFE OF NANCY DAVENPORT

WHEREAS, almighty God, in his infinite wisdom, saw fit to call Nancy Davenport from our midst on November 4, 2015; and,

WHEREAS, Nancy Davenport was born on June 17, 1922 in Lexington, Mississippi to Lee- Henry Tillman and Callie Cooper Tillman. Nancy was the second oldest of fourteen children and ten preceded her in death; and,

WHEREAS, Nancy met and married the love of her life, T.L. Davenport, a union which produced ten children- six girls and four boys; and,

WHEREAS, Nancy attended Saints Industrial School in Lexington, Missippi; and,

WHEREAS, Nancy gave her life to the Lord at an early age. She was a member of Robertson Temple Church of God in Christ, where she was the cook of the church and she sang in the choir; and,

WHEREAS, Nancy was also a midwife, and helped birth many children into the world; and,

WHEREAS, Nancy moved to Chicago, Illinois in 1966, where she became a faithful member of the Highway Church of God in Christ under the leadership of Elder Ben Chambers. She was the Assistant Mother, Cook, Choir President and Sunday School Superintendent and worked faithfully without complaining; and,

WHEREAS, Nancy later joined Greater Holy Temple Ministries in 1993, under the leadership of Bishop Earnest and Pastor Sherrie Hamilton, both of whom she loved very dearly. She served in the Mother's Ministry faithfully until her death; and,

WHEREAS, Nancy Davenport was preceded in death by her husband T.L. Davenport; two sons, Edward and Willie Lee; and one daughter, Bessie Jean; and,

WHEREAS, Nancy Davenport leaves to cherish her memory five daughters, two sons, two brothers, and one sister, as well as multiple generations of grandchildren and great-grandchildren numbering in the hundreds, along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and her Greater Holy Temple Ministries church family;
