Title: PROPOSED RESOLUTION HONORING KIMBERLEY A. SCHAFFER ON HER 28 YEARS OF SERVICE TO COOK COUNTY AND RETIREMENT FROM THE BUREAU OF HUMAN RESOURCES WHEREAS, On January 13, 2016, the Cook County Board President and the Cook County Board of Commissioners recognize and applaud the retirement of Kimberley A. Schaffer, Manager of Classification & Compensation; and WHEREAS, Ms. Schaffer began working in Cook County's Human Resources Department as a Job Specialist on January 19, 1988 and went on to have an illustrious career; and WHEREAS, Kimberley will forever be remembered for assisting Managers, Department Heads, Deputy Bureau Chiefs and Bureau Chiefs on issues regarding re-organizations, implementing wage increases, creating job descriptions and providing historical County knowledge during her 28 years of employment; and WHEREAS, in addition to being a welcoming resource for all who relied on her years of County experience, Kimberley has left a legacy of being a leader and supp...

HONORING KIMBERLEY A. SCHAFFER ON HER 28 YEARS OF SERVICE TO COOK COUNTY AND RETIREMENT FROM THE BUREAU OF HUMAN RESOURCES

WHEREAS, On January 13, 2016, the Cook County Board President and the Cook County Board of Commissioners recognize and applaud the retirement of Kimberley A. Schaffer, Manager of Classification & Compensation; and

WHEREAS, Ms. Schaffer began working in Cook County's Human Resources Department as a Job Specialist on January 19, 1988 and went on to have an illustrious career; and

WHEREAS, Kimberley will forever be remembered for assisting Managers, Department Heads, Deputy Bureau Chiefs and Bureau Chiefs on issues regarding re-organizations, implementing wage increases, creating job descriptions and providing historical County knowledge during her 28 years of employment; and

WHEREAS, in addition to being a welcoming resource for all who relied on her years of County experience, Kimberley has left a legacy of being a leader and supporting other human resources staff employed in the offices under the President; the Cook County Health & Hospital System; the Cook County Forest Preserve; and assisting elected officials in solving human resource challenges; and

WHEREAS, during her tenure, Kimberley's greatest achievements included successful projects such as, automating the county's electronic job description approval process, converting the paper-based compensation pay scales into an electronic format and being instrumental in developing the Request To Hire process. One of her most significant accomplishments was simultaneously managing both the Recruitment and Compensation/Classification divisions while updating and implementing several compensation plans affecting more than 26,000 employees; and

WHEREAS, Kimberley Schaffer will be genuinely missed by her co-workers who relied on her uncanny ability to accurately memorize over 6000 job codes and department numbers without the use of any reference ...
