Title: PROPOSED RESOLUTION IN HONOR OF THE RETIREMENT OF DR. AARON HAMB WHEREAS, the members of the Cook County Board of Commissioners are pleased to recognize the service and commitment given to the residents of Cook County by Dr. Aaron Hamb on his retirement from the Cook County Bureau of Health Services on January 15, 2015; and WHEREAS, Dr. Aaron Hamb received his medical degree from Rush Medical College in 1984 and became Board Certified in Internal Medicine in 1988; and WHEREAS, Dr. Hamb became a productive member of the Cook County Bureau of Health Services; and WHEREAS, he became the Program Director of the HIV/AIDS Prevention and Public Health Education Program, building it up to a national and internationally recognized program; and WHEREAS, Dr. Hamb came to Provident Hospital of Cook County in May of 1993 as the Associate Chairman of the Department of Internal Medicine and was appointed as the Chairperson of the Department in April 1994; and WHEREAS, Providen...

IN HONOR OF THE RETIREMENT OF DR. AARON HAMB

WHEREAS, the members of the Cook County Board of Commissioners are pleased to recognize the service and commitment given to the residents of Cook County by Dr. Aaron Hamb on his retirement from the Cook County Bureau of Health Services on January 15, 2015; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Aaron Hamb received his medical degree from Rush Medical College in 1984 and became Board Certified in Internal Medicine in 1988; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Hamb became a productive member of the Cook County Bureau of Health Services; and

WHEREAS, he became the Program Director of the HIV/AIDS Prevention and Public Health Education Program, building it up to a national and internationally recognized program; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Hamb came to Provident Hospital of Cook County in May of 1993 as the Associate Chairman of the Department of Internal Medicine and was appointed as the Chairperson of the Department in April 1994; and

WHEREAS, Provident Hospital realized both at the Bureau/System level and at Provident Hospital including the development of the Bureau/System's Credentials Verification Office, the development of the Orthopedics/ podiatry service, the merger of the Family Medicine Residency programs of Stroger and Provident, the development of a Comprehensive HIV Treatment and the Prevention and Outreach program in the Department of Internal Medicine; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Hamb was elected President of the Medical Staff by his peers in 1997; and

WHEREAS, November 1998, Dr. Hamb was appointed Chief Medical Officer of Provident Hospital of Cook County; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Hamb's special interest lies in the field of HIV, and AIDS, where he has served as Director since 1987; and

WHEREAS, he participated in the development and planning of the CORE Center and "Vision House", a facility that houses AIDS/HIV families; and
