PROPOSED RESOLUTION
A RESOLUTION OF THE COOK COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS RECOGNIZING BISHOP JENNIE L. PETTIES
WHEREAS, Bishop Jennie L. Petties was born in Clarksdale Mississippi, where she received her formal education and lived most of her early life until migrating to Chicago; and
WHEREAS, Bishop Petties became a Charter Member of Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church under the auspices of Reverend James Bass where she remains a member; and
WHEREAS, Bishop Petties continued her education with three years of study from Moody Bible Institute and later received her bachelor’s degree from Governor’s State University, as well as receiving many certificates from many community classes; and
WHEREAS, Bishop Petties, anointed as one of God’s Chosen Ambassadors, was consecrated as a Bishop on October 22, 2005; and
WHEREAS, Bishop Petties is the founding pastor of Family Altar Evangelistic Baptist Church and the J. L. P. Scholarship Foundation, and continues to financially sponsor three children in needs-based programs; and
WHEREAS, Bishop Petties has been recognized and honored by various organizations, magazines and newspapers, receiving such awards as the “Daughter of Thunder Trailblazer Award” and the “Greatest Pastor of Chicago Award”; and
WHEREAS, Bishop Petties, while currently overseeing many churches in Chicago and organizing two churches personally, still finds time for her husband, five children, twenty four grandchildren, thirty-five great grandchildren, and her three God children; and
WHEREAS, Bishop Petties believes in Ministering to the Total Man. Her love for mankind has caused God to use her in a mighty way. She continues to lead with the Vigor and Vitality that the Holy Spirit imparts to this spiritually gifted Woman;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the President and Cook County Board of Commissioners that Bishop Jennie L. Petties is recognized for her unique and significant contributions to Cook County; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the sincere appreciation of the President and the Cook County Board of Commissioners is to be extended to Bishop Jennie L. Petties for her service to her Church and to the wider community.
