PROPOSED RESOLUTION
CELEBRATING THE 70TH BIRTHDAY OF THOMAS S. MOORE
WHEREAS, on February 13, 2016, Thomas S. Moore will celebrate his 70th birthday; and
WHEREAS, Thomas S. Moore was an Eagle Scout and swimming champion at Fenwick High School; and
WHEREAS, Thomas S. Moore after graduation from Notre Dame University returned to Fenwick High School as a beloved teacher of hundreds of students; and
WHEREAS, Thomas S. Moore attended Loyola University Chicago School of Law at night while teaching during the day; and
WHEREAS, Thomas S. Moore, after law school graduation became the law clerk to Judge Frank McGarr of the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois; and
WHEREAS, Thomas S. Moore became a Cook County public defender and was involved in creating the Public Defender's Office Murder Task Force; and
WHEREAS, Thomas S. Moore has taught trial practice to hundreds of lawyers in his thirty-six years teaching at Loyola University Chicago School of Law; and
WHEREAS, Thomas S. Moore served on the City of Chicago Zoning Board of Appeals for ten years and he helped rewrite the City of Chicago Zoning Ordinance; and
WHEREAS, Thomas S. Moore has served as a member of the Illinois Supreme Court Character and Fitness Committee; and
WHEREAS, Thomas S. Moore has been a mentor, teacher and friend to many in Cook County; and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Board of Commissioners of Cook County, on behalf of the 5.2 million residents of Cook County takes great pleasure in honoring and celebrating the 70th birthday of Thomas S. Moore and herewith expresses its sincere gratitude for the invaluable contributions he has made to the citizens of Cook County, Illinois; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that a suitable copy of this Resolution be spread upon the official proceedings of this Honorable Body and that an official copy of the same be tendered to Thomas S. Moore in honor of his 70th Birthday...end
